Operator Brands

We provide high-quality and up-to-date names, logos and colors for our operators. In many cases also a train service brand, such as DB's ICE or Renfe's AVE.

Logos are always available as vector files, but can also be fetched in various bitmap formats. They are available in both a light mode and dark mode version. They are always correctly sized, by a designer, to match in size with each other.

Using logos

See the image field on Operator and on ServiceBrand. An operator appears on the Segment both on timetable journeys and on a priced journeyOffer, as well as on its parts, booked offer parts, and the segments of a JourneyOrderItem on an order.

image returns a FileResource: the logo url, its MIME type, and a name to use as alt text.

  • The logos have different widths, but always the same height. Use a fixed height in your layouts.
  • Please use the URL directly and don't build your own version. The URL is stable and safe to cache.
  • If a logo returns null, show its name instead.

Formats

Pass in a specific format, defaulting to svg. Supported formats are: svg, png, webp, avif and jpg.

Light and dark versions

To show a logo created for use in dark mode, pass in variant: DARK_MODE. The default is LIGHT_MODE.

Accent colors

Operators also come with an accent color that can be used to further improve your application designs.

See the accentColor field on Operator. It returns a hex string, such as #ec0016, and takes the same variant as image:

  • LIGHT_MODE, the default, has a contrast of at least 4.5:1 on white.
  • DARK_MODE has a contrast of at least 4.5:1 on #1B1C23.

The colors are WCAG AA level (4.5:1) for regular text sizes, supporting both dark and light backgrounds.

  • accentColor can be null, so fall back to your regular text color.
  • DARK_MODE doesn't fall back to the light-mode color.
  • We don't provide accent colors for Service brands, only for operators.
